Presenter: Anne Henderson, Senior Consultant, National Center for Family, School and Community Engagement
Building trusting relationships is the secret sauce for creating a healthy, productive school climate–one that fosters equitable supports for all children so they can thrive both academically and socially. School social workers are critical to this task. Author of Everyone Wins!: The Evidence for Family-School Partnerships and Implications for Practice and Senior Consultant for National Association for Family, School and Community Engagement (as well as the mother of a school social worker for DC Public Schools), Anne Henderson is the keynote speaker for Better Together: The 1st Annual Maryland/DC Joint School Social Work Conference. She will lead us in exploring recent research on effective practice for developing family-school partnerships where everyone wins and considering what we can do to build trust and let families know they are welcome and that we want to work with them as partners in their children's learning and development.
This workshop is approved for 1 continuing education unit by the DC Health Board of Social Work and the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
