This two-hour RECORDED workshop is approved for two continuing education units by the DC Board of Social Work and meets criteria for the Ethics requirement (upon completion of an evaluation with correct event code provided in the recording).

Increasing knowledge of research-informed self-care practices in order to prevent professional impairment is critical to the practice of competent, and therefore ethical, social work.

The purpose of this training is to ground social workers in the ethical practice of self-care and introduce clinicians to the real-world applications of essential oils for clinician self-care in order to maintain competence as a school social worker (applications which can also be extended to use with clients). This training will help clinicians gain knowledge about the neurobiological basis of using essential oils and how they can be integrated into an everyday self-care routine. Participants will be able to have real-world practice using 100% therapeutic grade essential oils that can reduce each social worker’s toxic load and therefore reinforce the ethical practice of social work

Presenter:

Ms. Georgette Saad, LICSW. She has been Senior Early Childhood Manager at Mary's Center for 9 years, as well as a practicing psychotherapist with a focus on the PCIT modality and a current Doctoral Fellow at Smith College School of Social Work. She has multiple presentations for national and local conferences on her CV and has taught MSW level courses at Catholic University.

SSWA DC believes school social workers in DC are a valued part of the education of all children, connecting schools, families, and communities to support student well-being and success.
